The ‘Venezuela’ was traveling from Swansea for Rouen via Falmouth with a cargo of coal when she was torpedoed by UB-59. There were no survivors.

The wreck lies upright and proud in places, although her stern is well buried. The highest parts being her two boilers and triple expansion engine. Her stern gun has been recovered.
