Smyrna, built in 1876 by W HOOD & CO at Aberdeen, she was an iron clipper of 1,372 tons. In 1888, she was on a voyage from Isle of Wight to Sydney, when she collided with another ship, the MOTO.
Twelve of her crew including the captain lost their lives. The seventeen survivors were rescued by the steamship and landed at Southampton.
